About me
My name is Amanda, but since I was a child I have always preferred to be called “Mana”.
In native Hawaiian culture, Mana refers to the spiritual energy of power and strength. It is the same energy that Hindus refer to as Prana or that the Chinese call Chi. When I started yoga and learned that prana is the life force energy we create when we breathe during practice, I was not surprised that this name came naturally to me.
I grew up living between the United States and the Philippines, before finally finding my home in Spain. My mind and body transformed through yoga. Learning to control my breath, gave me the power to change my life.
I started this journey with Rocket Yoga when I was still living in the United States. In 2014, I moved to Barcelona and did my first Rocket YTT with my mentor David C. Kyle. In 2015, I went to India to complete my first 200 hour YTT in Hatha Vinyasa. That year I began an Ashtanga Yoga practice with Tabatha Trejo, a student and authorized teacher of Sharath Jois.
I have now completed over 1000 YTT hours. I am a certified AcroYoga teacher at the Partner Acrobatics school and a licensed Rocket Yoga teacher trainer at the Progressive School of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. My goal is to have a healthy body and strong mind, to have a balanced life. I believe that all bodies are different and need a unique recipe to achieve balance. Therefore, most of my classes are personalized to the people who attend each class.
I continue to teach weekly Yoga and Handstand classes online and in person in Barcelona, as well as workshops and Teacher Trainings locally and internationally.
